What Is An EXPATRIATE?

We have been asked to explain the word "expatriate." Many people think that the word is just a different spelling of the word (or non-word) Ex-Patriot. An expatriate (or sometimes referred to as an expat) is simply a person living out of his home country. It has no connotation toward how one feels about his country...people who live outside their home country are not considered "unpatriotic," they are simply living somewhere else!

We here at Mexicoanswers.com are VERY patriotic to the United States and do not advocate anyone moving to Mexico because they are unhappy with the United States. We are happy to be Americans. We love to travel, and at this time, we have joined many expats in Mexico.
